Add highlights. Next, you will want some highlights on top where light would be hitting. Spray the opposite sides of the petals with your choice of darker shade; I used yellow. Be sure to do the same thing with any leaves, just using varying shades of green. Try to consistently mist your pieces, rather than spritzing on and off, this will help prevent it from being spotty. If the paint is going on too heavily, try spraying from farther away.

Apply the final coats and clear coat. Keep repeating this process until you are satisfied. If your coats are getting too heavy, you might need to stop for 10–20 minutes to wait for the layer to dry a bit. If you are adding clear coat, do so when the paint is still wet. This will help the blending. Be sure to note my finished photos to see the example of color placement and how I used the white to highlight the petals and lighter shades of greens for highlights on the leaves. Keep in mind that the closer in appearance the colors are to each other, the easier it is to get them to blend. So, for example, a bright white and an off-white will blend very easily, but a bright white and a gray will be a little bit trickier since they are so different in color. Sometimes it can appear a bit spotty rather than blended. The trick is to do very light coats, be patient, and practice.
